Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) are medicare health plans offered by insurance companies approved by the government.

Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) are medicare health plans offered by insurance companies approved by the government.

Medicare Advantage plans are not supplemental insurance, but rather health insurance plans of their own. If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan will provide all of your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage. Medicare Advantage can also include prescription drug coverage in addition to vision, hearing, and dental.

Medicare Advantage Plans must provide coverage that as good or better as the standards set by the original Medicare program, but they offer very different coverage. Here are a few examples of Medicare Advantage Plans:

HMO Plans: These plans require members to pick a primary physician, authorized to act as a mediator for your medical services. Primary Care Physicians (PCP) are general practitioners, family doctors or pediatricians. When your primary physician decides you need to visit a specialist her or she will give you a referral. Only specialists that operate in your network are covered by your insurance plan. Their best attribute is that HMOs provide general care at comparatively lower cost. Certain treatment are somewhat less likely to be covered under an HMO because the goal of this type of insurance plan is maintenance.

Point-of-Service (HMO-POS): HMO plans are helpful if you need to get some medical services out-of-network. In plans like this, you won’t have a primary physician, but you may pay larger fees.

(PPO) Plans: Preferred Provider Organizations operate as a network like HMOs, but are generally more flexible. You may visit an out of network provider if the insurance company has not negotiated prices with the provider already. You may be subject to additional fees and co-insurance, or you may need to pay for the treatment yourself and get reimbursed. With PPOs, you there is not a primary physician and no need to receive referrals for special medical services.

Private Fee For Service Plans Plans: Medicare doles out a certain amount of money to your insurance company on a monthly basis. Its up to your insurance company how to determine the cost of your service. These plans are sometimes only available in specific areas of the country, based on the company that is providing the coverage.

SNP: Medicare Special Needs Plans for individuals are plans where certain chronic diseases exist and the patients have persistent special needs. These plans are designed for people who require more Medicare coverage for their specialized needs.

MSA Plans: Combines high deductible health insurance with a private account at your bank. Medicare funds are regularly deposited into your private account (almost always less than the deductible). You are approved to use these funds to pay for health care throughout the year, as the need arises.

Medicare Advantage Coverage Statistics:

Enrollment for Medicare Advantage (Part C) grew from 5.4 million in 2005 to 8.2 million in 2007

As of 2008, 19% of Medicare beneficiaries received Medicare Advantage coverage

1/3 of Medicare Part D beneficiaries enrolled as part of Medicare Advantage

Nearly half (48%) of Medicare Advantage beneficiaries have a household income of less than $20,000

With so many options to choose from, it may be helpful to talk to a medicare specialist. Medicare in Texas and Medicare in Wisconsin can vary greatly, so depending on your location, speak to a Medicare specialist in your area.

Charles Lamb had a good point when he said every New Year’s Day is every man’s birthday, but what I want to know from you is how old do you want to feel on your birthday?

Believe it or not the success and happiness you want are attainable, how do I know- because I know it lays deep within ourselves just waiting for us to find out who we are and how to utilize ourselves best selves.

If you don’t have your health then what have you got? May I suggest you start with getting to the doctor for a physical exam, let the physician run all the typical screenings- weight, eyes, blood pressure and see what is recommended for optimum health; You might be surprised that you are in better health than you thought or the doctor may notice something you might have missed that can save your life.

During your visit you should expect your doctor to evaluate your medical and family history, current health, conditions, and any medications you are taking. He/She will also check your weight, vision, and blood pressure to get a baseline for your care. You will be asked questions as to your previous history with any preventive screenings, or services such as cancer screenings or surgeries. Following your visit, your doctor will give you a detailed list of all you have discussed and an outline as to what free screenings and preventive recommendations he/she has for you.

The best way to assure your doctor can give you the best diagnosis to tip top health is to come prepared, so now that you know what the doctor will ask be prepared for your appointment with your families health history, and bring a list of any prescription drugs, over-the counter drugs, supplements and or vitamins that you currently take. If you can’t make a list bring them in and be ready to explain how often and why you take the medications. You doctor should have all your previous medical records, including immunization charts, if you are attending a new medical facility or visiting this doctor for the first time and it seems like there is something missing speak up. The more questions you have the more answers and correct medical diagnosis you will have.

Once you have been enrolled in Part B for at least 12 months, you can then again visit with your doctor for FREE; your doctor will do a routine examination and once again review your medical history. With this preventative visit he will also provide any necessary preventive screenings, and should there be any questions or concerns he will let you know what it’s recommended such as a mammogram or colonoscopy preventive screening. These services are FREE; there is no copayment or deductible for the visit. To use this benefit just call your doctor when you sign up for Medicare, if you don’t have a doctor ask SSC for a list of providers in your area.

You have worked hard all your life and you deserve to have and use these benefits, don’t put off enrolling or taking advantage of Medicare- it is here for you to maximize your health care during your senior years.

There are many exciting careers that you can become involved in, and one of the most popular careers these days is Nursing Travel Jobs. These nurses get to travel all over the country, sometimes to other countries, in order to assist in the day-to-day care of patients, and it is a great way to travel, see the world and commit to the rewarding job of nursing. Nurses, who feel like they want to get out of one medical facility and try their hand at this exciting job prospect, have many benefits awaiting them.

What Do Nursing Travel Jobs Entail?

A travelling nurse will conduct all of their regular nursing-related activities in different parts of the country or state. Those that are interested in this type of job will need to interview with the company offering these positions and their experience, skills and personality traits will then be matched up to various positions around the country and state. Nurses will be provided with a certain amount of options that they can then choose to make use of in order to explore the country and, possibly, the world.

What is the Pay Like?

The pay that these nurses receive will depend on a variety of factors, including the facility to which they are assigned, the skills that they have and the location in which they are placed. The benefits that are received will also depend on the type of Nursing Travel Jobs they choose, but these usually include travel pay, dental and health insurance and other bonuses.

Becoming a Travelling Nurse

In order to take on one of the Nursing Travel Jobs, nurses need to be flexible and willing to work and live in new locations on a regular basis. Adjusting to new working and living environments is part of this job, and this includes meeting new people and communicating effectively with patients, employers and the family members of patients.

Before you can apply for one of these positions, you will need to make sure that you are qualified as a nurse. Experience might not be necessary to certain companies, but there are others that require their staff to have a certain amount of experience before they can apply for one of these positions.

Dealing with the Downsides of Travelling

Those that are applying for these types of jobs need to do so with the knowledge that they will rarely remain in one place for a very long amount of time. Travelling nurses should not be the kind of people that need routine and familiar faces in their job, and they also need to be aware that, due to the amount of travelling that they will be doing, advancement in their careers is not always a possibility, since they might not be in one place long enough to be considered for promotions. Those that consider travelling and seeing the world to be sufficient enough to keep them content in their work will be happier choosing Travel Nursing Jobs in the long run.

There is a high demand for travel nursing jobs across clinics, hospitals, and medical facilities. Find the ideal travel nursing position to suit your career prospects among these well-acclaimed travel nursing companies.

If you have major medical bills, don’t pay them until you’ve done a medical bill review. Doctors and hospitals frequently overcharge their patients leaving them with high medical bills. Having someone do a full medical bill review can help you negotiate medical bills with the hospital/Doctor and save your money.

Some of the most typical billing methods by doctors is to get your Dedit card up front or bill you for whatever the insurance corporation did not pay for. Many patients pay these bills because they don’t understand their insurance plan. Having a complete medical bill review can decide if the doctor overcharged you and if you are entitled to any money back.

Another big medical bill fraud is the out of date medical bill. In this type of scheme the doctor sends you a medical bill for visits that are a year old or longer. Insurance companies have timely filing requirements, and if the doctor didn’t submit the bill to the insurance firm in a timely manner, the bill is denied. When this happens, doctors may try to bill you.

Many patients pay these bills because they are afraid and don’t really wish to ruin their credit. Having a full medical bill review can determine whether you are accountable for paying the bill or not.

Having a complete medical bill review can also help with hospital bills too. An estimated 90% of all hospital bills contain mess ups. Having a full medical bill review can eliminate these blunders and lower your hospital bill.

Medical bill reviews have exposed many mistakes. One medical bill review uncovered a hospital that charged $11.59 for a box of tissues. Another review found that a hospital charged $12.00 for a nurse to hand the patient a pill.

These inaccuracies are exacerbated by the fact that insurance companies are not paying the hospitals the proper amount. They just keep paying the incorrect bills while rejecting valid charges and we question why health care costs are increasing. Having a medical bill review can help consumers reduce their medical bills.

Most people do not know the simple way to negotiate medical bills. Actually most people do not even know that they can negotiate medical bills. Hospitals and doctors regularly send you bills that contain errors. Up to date reports have revealed that as much as 90% of hospital bills contain some sort of error.

If you have got a hospital bill that isn’t covered by your health insurance, then you will need to learn how to negotiate medical bills. Here are some steps.

1. Get an itemized bill from the doctor or hospital. Don’t accept an outline bill. The bill must be itemized if you are going to try and negotiate.

2. If you are going to discover how to negotiate medical bills, you’ll need to get all your medical records. Remember that there is a small copying fee for you to get your records.

3. You’ll need to find out about billing codes if you’d like to know how to negotiate medical bills. Billing codes provide insurance companies and you, with what type of sickness and how it was treated.

4. Learn the medical codes. This’ll help you notice the errors and help you to negotiate medical bills

5. Now you have all of the info, start to inspect your medical records. Make notes of how many times the doctor ordered medication for you. Then compare that to the itemized bill. You may find that the charged you for 6 measures of medication, but the Doctor only ordered 4. Or maybe they billed you for something that you didn't get or authorize. Look through the records punctiliously and you will begin to learn the steps concerning how to negotiate medical bills.

The Doctors and hospitals certainly don't want you to learn how to negotiate medical bills. They count on people being to sick question a bill or to afraid to question a bill.

NY Small Business Health Insurance not only handles health insurance for Manhattan Firms, but we will be able to also help you to negotiate medical bills.

US News and World Report has ranked hospitals across the United States on a variety of factors. Some factors are general in nature, such as death rates, advanced equipment and patient questionnaires. Since the majority of illnesses and injuries are common ones, the information gleaned on these rankings is sufficient for most patients.

The report by US News also included rankings for various specialties at each hospital. Often a patient needs a specialized procedure in an area of medicine that’s not as common. To get a good score on a particular specialty, a hospital must perform enough procedures in that specialty and do them very well. Of the 4,825 hospitals evaluated, only 140 performed well enough to rank in one or more specialties.

Here are the top nine hospitals in the San Diego area, according to US News and World Reports.

Pomerado Hospital in Poway. This is a small hospital, but its ear, nose and throat specialty gets good marks for its high performance.

Scripps La Jolla Hospitals and Clinics in La Jolla. Also a Best Hospitals recipient, Scripps La Jolla is nationally ranked in one specialty, cardiology, and high performing in an additional eleven specialties. The national average shows us that 69% of patients would recommend a hospital they used. Scripps La Jolla boasts a recommendation rate of 80%!

Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Scripps San Diego ranks a more than respectable ten high performing specialties. Their survival rates are better than expected in most specialties with a much better than expected ranking in Urology.

Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. Sharp Hospital in San Diego has an outstanding reputation with its patients, 84% of whom would recommend it to others. It has fourteen specialties, three of which have been ranked as high performing.

Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Scripps San Diego ranks a more than respectable ten high performing specialties. Their survival rates are better than expected in most specialties with a much better than expected ranking in Urology.

Scripps La Jolla Hospitals and Clinics in La Jolla. Also a Best Hospitals recipient, Scripps La Jolla is nationally ranked in one specialty, cardiology, and high performing in an additional eleven specialties. Eighty percent of its patients would recommend it, which far exceeds the national average of 69%.

Sharp Hospitals in Chula Vista, Coronado and San Diego. Sharps Hospitals in San Diego, Coronado and Chula Vista round out the top nine hospitals in the San Diego area. Sharp in Chula Vista gets exceptionally high marks for keeping patients safe from accidents and medical errors.

Any of these hospitals would be an excellent option for patients with fairly commonplace medical problems. If you are going into the hospital for a procedure that falls into a hospital’s specialty, it’s worth it to check out which hospitals perform especially well in that specialty. All of these ratings are for adult hospitals. Although all of these facilities see children, especially in the emergency room, a children’s hospital is a better choice for young patients. Fortunately there is a Best Hospitals ranked facility for young patients in San Diego. It’s Rady Children’s Hospital and it boasts ten nationally ranked specialties.

Live by the ocean and close to these award winning hospitals at the same time. Look online for new homes Chula Vista. You can even find environmentally friendly Carlsbad CA new homes.

They will match the nurse with the employer and arrange for the interview. Employers prefer hiring these nurses from an agency because they do not require training and they are ready to start on the first day of work without requiring supervision. In addition, the agency will help with the travel arrangements, obtaining the nursing license required in the state or province, and help with securing appropriate accommodations.

As more people age in today’s population, more hospitals and medical clinics are seeing an increased demand for nurses. These professionals help take care of people of all ages and physical conditions; however, some patients may not be able to get to the doctor and get treatment. With that, travel nursing jobs now comprise a large aspect of the health care profession. These nurses go into people’s houses to give care and administer medications.

However, prior to working in this profession, interested candidates must be trained to work in this career field. Most classes needed to enter this career starts with college courses, although a number of high schools now make available classes to students as well. These high school courses make people aware of what is involved in this job. They study topics about the human body and become skilled in taking blood pressure readings, injecting medications, and monitoring vital signs.

Some nurses acquire more advanced skills than other nurses. These professionals earn the title of registered nurse. Compared to licensed practical nurses and certified nurses assistants, registered nurses rank higher and typically earn more money. Their skills are expanded to begin I. V. Lines and put in trachea tubes to help with breathing.

Upon graduating from a technical school or a university with a four year degree, people may then complete their state’s licensing test and then start their careers as nurses. It is documented that the demand for nurses exceeds the number of qualified graduates in this field. As such, it has also been noted that some students are offered jobs prior to their graduating and becoming licensed, although licensing is needed before being allowed to work with patients.

Their choices are not limited to typical medical environments. In fact, some people choose to forgo the hospital and medical clinic experience in lieu of working as a traveling nurse. They may be employed by a hospital or clinic, but they are actually sent to people’s homes to care for them. The people they treat may not otherwise be able to obtain medical services if it were not for these professionals.

When they arrive at a person’s home, a nurse can refill a prescription, change wound bandages, monitor blood pressure or blood sugar readings, and help a person exercise. In fact, most of their patients that they see in a day are usually elderly who can no longer drive. These patients might not have anyone else who can drive them to the doctor as well. As such, the nurse fills the need for their medical care.

Nurses also give friendship and conversation to patients at home. These individuals may become lonely and sad at having no one to talk to all day long. A nurse can talk with them and lighten their mood while receiving medical care.

Travel nursing jobs continue to be an aspect of the health care field that witnesses vacancies and a demand for skilled nurses. People who want to help others and yet not work in a medical facility may consider choosing this career.

There is a high demand for travel nursing jobs across clinics, hospitals, and medical facilities. Find the ideal travel nursing position to suit your career prospects among these well-acclaimed travel nursing companies.
