Medicare Supplemental Plans
I opened the newspaper today only to see a huge ad for supplemental insurance. And it reminded me that the time is drawing closer for me to start thinking about my retirement years and what I’m going to do with regard to healthcare coverage. Fortunately I have a little bit of information under my belt because it was necessary for me to help my mother when she needed to get additional coverage over and above her Medicare. I learned that Medicare supplements are definitely worth their weight in gold. This coverage helped my mother during her retirement years because she was in need of so much medical care due to very fragile health. She was on a fixed income and was only receiving Social Security which left her very little to budget at the end of each month. We found that the supplemental insurance premiums were very affordable for her and coverage that she simply could not go without.
We found that the Medigap rates varied from carrier to carrier such as United healthcare supplemental insurance versus Aetna supplemental plans. While we found out that all Medicare supplement plans are the same regardless of which carrier you choose to go with their was a wide range of premiums. Once we found out that all Medicare supplement plans are standardized and we knew that she would get the same coverage regardless of carrier her decision became very obvious. It was time for her to go with a company that offered her the lowest premium rate. Once we found out what the Medicare enrollment period was we were able to go forward to get the application process started. The application was very straightforward but required a lot of detailed information.
We call the experts at 1-800-MEDIGAP and they were able to help us through the process to be sure that the application was filled out completely and correctly so there would be no delay in Medicare gap insurance coverage for my mom. They explained in great detail what each plan covered and let us know the easiest way to submit payment for the coverage. My mom is very forgetful so it was very reassuring to know that she could have her premiums deducted from her bank account on a monthly basis and not be concerned that her coverage would be canceled because of nonpayment. That was very reassuring for her and it took a huge burden off of her shoulders.
